Ouarzazate is the gateway to the desert and the heart of Morocco's film industry. The Atlas Studios have been the setting for films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones.
On the outskirts of town, the spectacular Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is one of the most photographed places in Morocco. The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs sets off from here towards the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorge.
